Born: 1949, Pinar del Río, Cuba.

Education: He studied painting and drawing at the Academy of Plastic and Applied Arts of Pinar del Río (1961-1965), and later graduated from the National School of Art of Cubanacán, in Havana (1970).

Experience: Oliva has been appointed Associate Professor by the Superior Institute of Art (I.S.A.) in Havana.

Awards: 2008 Artist emeritus, awarded by the Higher Institute of Art of Havana. CUBA; 2007 Prize "Master of Youth", awarded by the AHS and Special Prize, La Vasija Biennial, Museum of Ceramics, Havana; 2006 National Prize of Plastic Arts (granted by the National Council of Plastic Arts and MINCULT in 2006) and Special Prize, Biennial of Ceramics, Museum of Ceramics, Havana; 1997 Medal of the Members of Honor of the FAO. Rome Italy; 1994 Alejo Carpentier Medal, granted by the Council of State of the Republic of Cuba; 1990 Painting Prize: National Salon UNEAC 1990, National Museum of Fine Arts, Havana, Cuba; 1987 Distinction for National Culture, granted by the Council of State of the Republic of Cuba; 1981 Acquisition Award: Salon "Girón '81", National Museum of Fine Arts, Havana, Cuba; 1980 1st Prize in the VII National Youth Salon of Plastic Arts, Havana; 1975 Special Mention III National Salon of Teachers and Instructors of Plastic Arts, National Museum of Fine Arts, Havana, Cuba; 1974 First and Second Prize of Painting and First Drawing Prize: II National Salon of Teachers and Instructors of Plastic Arts, National Museum of Fine Arts, Havana, Cuba; 1973 1st.
