Roger VON GUNTEN
Born: March 29, 1933 in Zurich, Switzerland.
Education: Kunstgewerbeschule (School of Arts and Crafts) in Zurich. He studied engraving at the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City.
Experience: He arrived in Mexico with a plan to travel south along the recently opened Pan-American Highway. He was part of the movement known as Breakaway Generation, which turned its back on the Mexican muralism of the previous generation of painters. In 1991 he created the set for the opera of Daniel Catán "The daughter of Rapaccini" (the daughter of Rapaccini) that was represented in the Fine Arts. In 1993, von Gunten became a member of the National System of Art Creators, Conaculta-Fonca.
Shows: He made his first individual exhibition in Swit .zerland in 1956. In 1957 A retrospective of his works was presented at the Palacio de Bellas Artes in 1989, which contains more than 200 of his works. He has made numerous individual and group exhibitions both nationally and internationally and has given lectures throughout the Mexican Republic.
